Mary Pierce Brosmer
Teacher, Poet, Social Entrepreneur, Change Agent

In recent weeks and months I've been privileged to design and facilitate learning / leadership programs for a variety of organizations including Miami University's Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Interfaith Ministry, and others (see contact/calendar page)

Though I am teaching "only writing" workshops less frequently because of my organizational work, consider joining journalist and memoirist Susan Weidener and myself for "The Art and Practice of Memoir" October 15 (evening) and October 16 in beautiful Chester County, PA.

Welcome!

As one way of introducing myself, I'll summarize how I learned, and am learning, about organizational life and leadership.

I learned organizational and systems creation in three phases of my career:

(a) as participant in non-living systems for twenty years as a teacher

(b) as a creator of a living system, a small business with national affiliates: Women Writing for (a) Change, LLC.

(c) as a consultant attempting to support organizations and leaders in transition from  "old thinking (organizations are machines) to "new thinking' (organizations are living systems)

My writing life keeps me in regular touch with creating systems.  A writer is by nature a creator of living systems---unless she or he is writing formula fiction or propaganda

To learn more about how and why I do what I do in the world, you can read the essays and poems on this site, my occasional blog entries.  I invite you to learn about the organization I founded in 1991, out of which much of what I carry into the world comes, by clicking on www.womenwriting.org.

"I have been leading expressive writing workshops for about a year, advocating this as a stress management practice but really think your approach is the most powerful  I have seen...yet full of humility at the same time."

Patrick Clary, M.D., The New Hampshire Palliative Care Service, LLC?PO Box 1049, Portsmouth, NH

In her insightful debut book, Mary Pierce Brosmer shares the unique method of writing that she developed as founder and director of Women Writing for (a) Change, a nationwide organization that teaches women and girls to nurture the conscious feminine voice within them.

Imaginative exercises, helpful examples, and provocative anecdotes enables people explore writing not just as a means of individual self-examination and expression, but also as a way to create and effect positive social change.

“An opening into the transformational power of writing . . . "

Peter Block
Author of Community: The Structure of Belonging
